The government of Telangana has launched the Indiramma Saree Scheme on 19th November 2025 to provide free sarees to the women of the state. Under this scheme, sarees made of Sircilla by entirely handloom workers will be distributed into two phases on the basis of location. The benefit of the scheme will be provided to around 1 crore women across the state, which will cover both urban and rural areas.
The distribution of this saree for the village women will be done by 9th December 2025, and for the urban areas women, it will start from 1st March to 8 March. What is the Indiramma Saree Scheme?
The Indiramma Saree Scheme is a great initiative for women to provide free-of-cost sarees, started by the government of Telangana on the special occasion of Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary. Under the scheme, the free-of-cost saree made with Sircilla entirely made by the handloom workers will be provided to the women belonging to urban and ruler areas. In the first phase of this scheme, around 65 rural area women will be provided with free of cost sarees on 9th December 2025. In the second phase of this scheme, 35 lakh women from the urban areas will be provided with free of cost sarees from 1st March to 8th March on the special occasion of International Women’s Day.

The primary objective of the Indiramma Saree Scheme is to provide high-quality sarees to the women of the state to celebrate the festivals with dignity. Under this scheme, the total of 1 crore sarees will be distributed according to the area-wise. This scheme will ensure that no woman will be left out of receiving the Indiramma Saree by the government. It will also help women to become empowered. 65 lakh women will benefit from this scheme on 9th December. And the remaining 35% will get benefits during the second phase in March 2026.
